The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind at Staunton is seeking an Administrative Assistant to provide quality clerical and secretarial services for two Assistant Principals and to the school team as a whole. This position is for Academic Year 2008 - 2009. As with all school positions, funding is contingent upon final approval of the budget by the Governor and General Assembly.
Responsibilities include:
- Office management and clericals tasks
- Department purchasing and monitoring of funds
- Preparation of payroll documentation
- Coordination of employee substitutes for all programs
- Assistance to visitors and contacts with external agencies
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate
- Training, experience, or a combination of both in secretarial services and office management
- Knowledge of office management procedures, standard English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic math
- Advanced typing and computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications
- Knowledge of records management procedures sufficient to prepare and maintain records
- Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform repetitive motion to include standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, walking, bending, and climbing
